In October of 2007, after years of pressure from citizens like you, the BC government committed to "follow the science" and protect caribou habitat. In February 2009 government followed through and legislated protection of habitat from logging and road building. Already government is planning to erode those protections to allow mining companies to do exploration work and helicopter skiing companies to undertake work known to be harmful to habitat just to provide more skiing opportunities without so much as a biologist’s review.
Every personally written email sent by a supporter will help influence government officials. The gains we've made for caribou would never have happened without your voice, and now they need us to keep pressure on BC government so the gains made are not lost to uninformed industrial decision makers.
Take a moment to tell the BC government to protect critical caribou habitat areas from proposed mining development and heli-skiing activities and to immediately augment the rapidly dwindling southern herds.
Send an email to the BC government and help them make the right decision to protection of mountain caribou habitat. And pass this message along to your friends, family members, and colleagues! Mountain caribou need your help.
